JANUARY 2004 NEWSLETTER

DATE: January 20, 2004
PLACE: H&H Music, 713 FM 1960 W.
TIME: 9:30 AM—Board Meeting 10:15 AM—CCMTA Meeting 11:00 AM--Program

GUEST: Julia Amada Kruger

PROGRAM: all about national guild of piano teachers

If you hear other teachers talking about putting their students in Guild, you may wonder what it’s all about.
Even if your students do participate in Guild, you probably don’t know everything there is to know about it.

Well, our speaker does. She has spent 30 (40?) years there, and is chairman of repertoire, special medals, and diplomas. Do you wonder how a teacher selects a guild center, or about the level of difficulty of the repertoire? This is a rare opportunity to ask Guild questions face to face.

We’re sure Julia Kruger can answer any question off the top of her head, but if there’s something specific you want to know, Program Chairman Dorothy Kirkpatrick can pass it along ahead of time so she’ll be sure to leave time to address it.

From the President: HAPPY NEW YEAR to one and all! Here’s hoping that you had some awesome holidays and that you are now raring to go to finish up the school year and the spring semester with a big bang! I am hoping for each and every member of CCMTA that you will find new ideas, new beginnings, new inspiration, and new music in 2004. I also plan to diet and get back into good physical condition!

We still have 5 yard signs left for purchase from Magnolia Sign Source. If you are interested, please contact me at 281-370-2236.

See you on January 20th!

Yearbook Change: Pat Wickey has a new e-mail address. Please change it to: patwickey@sbcglobal.net

Website Updated: We hope you will check out CCMTA’s website at www.ccmta.org. It’s now been completely updated and should stay current under the local hands of Pat Wickey and the capable hands of her son-in-law, Luke Spence, who is the technical expert in charge. We have distributed posters and brochures publicizing the website, and anyone in search of a music teacher or performer will have our entire membership list to choose from, with instruments and subjects taught, and e-mail and telephone contacts. This list is always kept current.

Personal Page: If you would like to provide more detail for prospective students or bookings, you can do so by purchasing a personal page on the website for $25. Make the check payable to Luke Spence and mail to Pat Wickey, 10807 Glenway Drive, Houston 77070. E-mail Luke Spence with any questions, and send your set-up material directly to him. Any major changes after the set-up, except for telephone number or e-mail address, would call for a $10 maintenance fee.

Furthermore...   Mike and Jennifer Trent have a new baby girl! Carolyn Elizabeth was born on December 29th at 10:11 AM. She weighed in at 6 pounds and 10.5 ounces. Jennifer has served in the past as our TMTA Performance Chairman. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!
