Teachers Perform for Students Recital: Attention all CCMTA members! We need teachers to perform on this year’s recital. All instruments and ability levels are welcome! All performers please send your piece(s) to be performed, as well as a short bio to Colleen Bell by October 1st. We also need volunteers to help out at the event. If you are interested in getting involved, contact Colleen Bell (cvbell99@hotmail.com or 281-890-9470). Even if you can’t participate, please use the enclosed flyer to let your students and families know about the event. We are trying to raise money for scholarships through voluntary contributions. Reunion Reception to Follow Recital: For this, our 25th anniversary, we are inviting past members as well as current ones to join us in a reception in the adjoining Activity Room immediately following the recital. Our very first president, Pat Wickey, has very generously provided the funding for this reception. One of our charter members, JoAnne Griffith, informed us that her sister, Jeannie Cox, has volunteered to provide background music. This promises to be a very special celebration of CCMTA’s Silver Anniversary. Y’all come! President’s Message: Dear CCMTA members, and a hearty welcome to our new members. Best wishes for a fabulous teaching year. Here’s hoping that everything is off to a good start. The first event for our students is the Theory Test on October 30th, so get out those theory workbooks, and work, work, work! The first event for the teachers is the recital on October 9th, so practice, practice, practice! The recital will celebrate our 25th anniversary year, and we are so very proud of all the accomplishments of our members, ever since 1980. Charter members who have kept in touch are: Linda Anthony, Barbara Cowen, Martha Jane Gardiner, JoAnne Griffith, Don Harris, Dee Schroell, Florence Sawyer, and Pat Wickey. The last three named are now also honorary members. Congratulations to all these fine first-class members of CCMTA who have stuck it out! Please invite former members with whom you are still in touch to attend the Teachers Perform for Students recital and Reunion Reception on October 9th. The yard signs we sold last year went over so well that we’re planning to offer them again. I’m sure you all have some new students who would like them. I will be sending you a mailing about them shortly. See you at the first meeting!
