Dr. Witherspoon is no stranger to CCMTA. She presented an excellent program here two years ago on "Ethics and Professionalism." She is a past president of the Houston Music Teachers Association and teaches freshman Theory and other subjects at Houston Baptist University.

Yearbook Correction: You will find enclosed with this newsletter a replacement for pages 11 and 12. Please place this in your yearbook and discard the other one. I owe a profound apology to our duly elected Member-at-Large, Joel Hammett, for failing to put his name under “Officers” instead of the previous person in that position. I have re-typed the entire page (there are no changes on the page in back of it) and had holes punched to make it easy for you to make this switch. Again, Joel, I am very sorry!

Doris Erickson

Yearbook Addition: We have a new member, elected by the Board, at our September meeting. Please add his name to your yearbook, and welcome him to CCMTA!

Student Affiliate Enrollments: I want to thank everyone for getting their Student Affiliates enrolled in a timely manner. There were a few, who shall remain nameless, who failed to use the forms sent to them by the state. For the future: If you had students enrolled the year before, you should receive from the state a form with their names already listed. Please use it—it saves the TMTA office from having to re-enter those names. If you did not receive it before the deadline, please check with the Student Affiliate Membership Chairman before proceeding with your enrollments.

Dorothy Kirkpatrick, SA Membership Chairman

From the President: Hope things are going well as we get into our busy school year schedules.

Don’t forget the yard signs. They are due by the October meeting, October 19th. There was a date error on some of the letters that I mailed out, so if you are planning to have your checks to me by October 21st, they will be accepted.

See you at the October meeting!

Your President, Becky May

Free or Low Cost Music: Sharon Goldsberry has alerted us to a real bargain. She has a friend who used to teach piano but is now concentrating on teaching dulcimer, and wondered if we could pass along her message to our members. We’re glad to alert you to this opportunity. Here is her message:

I want to make my 30-year collection of piano and vocal music available to any music teachers who might find the contents of interest. It includes beginner and advancing piano books, as well as much sheet music, and some interesting collections of classical and old popular music. I also have some general information books and practical teaching books.

Some of the books are FREE to whomever will use them. Other titles and collections are offered at a "sacrifice" price. I want to avoid advertising this "music garage sale," so if anyone is interested in taking a look, call Peggy Carter at 281-370-9495. Thanks.

Furthermore. . . I guess you’re all alive and well, so in that respect "no news is good news." But haven't any of you been any place or done anything? That’s what this section is all about. We’re interested in news about each other, so if you’ll just tell me, I’ll put it in print here. Check next month’s deadline, and let’s hear from you!
