Yearbook Changes: Directory--Please add new member, voted in at the August Board meeting: Evelyn Furr teaches piano, 281-251-7423, egfurr@yahoo.com  Cross off Jasmine Hatem. She did not rejoin and was left on the roster by mistake. Add a category at the end of the directory, “Patron Members,” and insert Karen Stockton, 281-444-0343, hugahabi@swbell.net  Change the e-mail address of Tracey Parker to cypressparkers@sbcglobal.net  On the Calendar-at-a-Glance, change the date of “Teachers Perform for Students Recital” to September 30th, and change the date of World of Music to March 3rd. Both are correct on the main calendar. Standing Committee Chairmen, Attendance Chairman--Tracey Parker (281-373-4759) replaces Barbara Cowen, who finds she cannot continue in that position.

New Process for Student Affiliate Registration: We will be participating in electronic enrollment for Student Affiliate this year. I am excited about its possibilities – especially the fact that each teacher will enter his/her own students names and information which will eliminate errors from my end when inputting names that I am unfamiliar with.. For those who are frightened by this process, have no fear. I have detailed instructions on how you do this. Also, for our cyber-resistant members, I will be happy to help you enroll your students this year.

You can expect an email from the state office sometime in early September that will have an attachment with our local association name and your name. This will be your student affiliate enrollment form. It will have all students that you registered last year. Once you have saved this file onto your hard drive, you can now make changes to the names listed and also add new names to the bottom of the list. If you have a student who will not be entered this year, simply leave their grade blank for the 2006-2007 school year. Once you have made all changes, save the file again and send me that file as an attachment to my email address: wendywells@earthlink.net

If you have questions, feel free to call or email. Please remember that this process is new to me too and if we work together on this, it could be very helpful in eliminating a lot of confusion and problems that we have experienced in the past. Just think – we are on the cutting edge of enrolling our students. Thank you in advance for making this a pleasant process.

Wendy Wells, SA Membership Chairman

Students for Master Class Participation: Dr. Sergio Ruiz will be giving a Master Class for our November 7th program. He has said he will have time for 15 minutes or less worth of music. Please be thinking about students you would like to have work with him.

Kevin Guess, Program Chairman

Attention New Members: Please read very carefully the packet of materials you receive from our CCMTA Membership Chairman Sandy Toews when you request an application to join. She includes several pages of the By-Laws, and at the top of the first page is the Standing Rule regarding attendance at meetings, which she highlights in bright yellow! There are penalties for not meeting that requirement, which are clearly spelled out, but there are valid reasons for exemption if you request it. Please familiarize yourself with our rules

Furthermore. . . Barbara Cowen’s sister died in August and she has our sincerest sympathy….Vicki McDonald and her husband have had so much illness, and now Vicki injured her thumb on a cheese grater—so badly that it required several stitches. She warns one and all that the new graters are extremely sharp—better keep your old one.
