May Awards Ceremony: As you know, the Executive Board voted at last summer’s planning meeting to replace the May Luncheon with a Sunday afternoon May Awards Ceremony.. It will be held on Sunday, May 6th in the Forum of the Cypress Creek Christian Community Center from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Cookies and punch will be served at a reception in the Activity Room afterwards until 5:00 PM. Chairman Nancy Johnston was able to secure the facilities for us. As always, the event will feature installation of officers, various awards, and musical performances by our contest winners.

Member of the Year: Be thinking about the person you might like to nominate for this honor at the March meeting. If more than one nominee, their accomplishments will be printed in the April newsletter, and a secret ballot will be taken at the April meeting, with the name of the winner kept secret by Chairman JoAnne Griffith until the May Awards Ceremony. (There is to be only one Member of the Year, except in case of a tie, in which case two can share.)

Piano for Sale: CCMTA member Ellen Bush is selling one of her grand pianos. It’s a shiny black Kohler & Campbell 500-S, 5 feet 3 inches, only 5 years old, priced at $10,000. Call her at 281-374-9303.CCMTA Piano Contest: We have 180 students participating and 27 teachers in the event to be held at the Cypress Creek Christian Community Center on Saturday, March 31st. Everyone is invited to attend the winners recital in the Centrum at 6:00 PM.

From the President: The National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy 2007 will be held in Oakbrook Illinois, Thursday-Saturday, August 2-4 with Pre-Conference Seminars on August 1. Early registration ends May 1 and the cost is $225.00. Price goes up after that. I am speaking from experience when I say that this is truly a remarkable experience. This event is sponsored by the Frances Clark Center, the same people who publish the Keyboard Companion. Plan to attend and get ready for days packed full of lectures and small group discussions as well as demonstrations on pedagogy; and evenings with wonderful performers.

For those who cannot attend the conference this year, consider joining me in ordering the Keyboard Companion at a group rate. You will receive a magazine with insightful and in depth articles of pedagogy and other topics to enhance your private studio or classroom teaching. Teachers across the nation and Canada are calling this the #1 must have publication for teachers of piano. I will have sample issues at the meeting on March 20.

I hope to see all of you at the meeting at the new Brook Mays store, located across the parking lot from the old one. The nominating committee will present their recommendations for officers for the upcoming year.
