MAY 2007 NEWSLETTER
May Awards Ceremony This new event is open to all and at no charge to anyone—participants, performers, members or guests. First we will be treated to performances by this year’s contest winners. Awards and scholarships will be presented to various deserving recipients, and officers elected at the April meeting will be installed. At 4:00 PM everyone is invited to adjourn to the adjacent Activity Room for complimentary punch and cookies and a chance to socialize. We hope you will attend and encourage your students to do so, even if they won’t be performing or receiving awards. They will find it an enjoyable time and perhaps be encouraged to be participants in the future. *************************************************************************** CALENDAR OF EVENTS

May Results of Harris Activity Awards Finalized: Cash awards were won by twelve of the forty students who succeeded in achieving the required number of points for entry in CCMTA’s fifth annual Harris Activity Awards Competition. All other students earned honorable mention awards for their impressive efforts as well. A list of Cash Award Winners and Honorable Mention recipients is included as an insert in this newsletter. All awards will be either mailed to the involved teachers, or given to them at our May Awards Ceremony. This will enable each teacher to have the flexibility of presenting the awards to their individual students at their own convenience and in whatever manner they so desire. Only the most enthusiastic student workers throughout the year are able to meet the challenge of the annual required number of points for entry. The number of student participants jumped from 28 last year to 41 for this year! CCMTA proudly commends the enthusiastic work of all involved students and teachers, and greatly appreciates such fine support of our many exciting and worthwhile activities. Funding for these very special annual awards is made possible through an Endowment Fund set up by Pat Wickey, CCMTA’s first President, and her family. We are most grateful for their generosity. Thank you to all the participating teachers and students for all their hard work to make this competition a success. Chairman Linda Herring Furthermore. . . This is the last newsletter Wendy Wells will be mailing out. She has “retired” after four years in the position of Corresponding Secretary, and I’m very appreciative of the thorough and reliable job she has always done. Of course she’s still a CCMTA member. Thanks, Wendy! |
