Spring Theory Test: Theory Chairman Nancy Johnston advises that the deadline for registering students for the Spring Theory Test is December 29th. Electronic application is preferred, as it prevents errors in spelling and retyping. Go to www.ccmta.org and download the Microsoft Excel version of the form. Fill in the blanks, save the file, and email it as an attachment to CFMusicAndArts@aol.com. If you don't have Excel, you may mail her the application in the yearbook.

Late Student Affiliate Membership Enrollments: Chairman Wendy Wells will be sending them to the state office on December 15th. Note that anyone wishing to take the Spring Theory Test must be enrolled by that date. Late entries are now $14 per student. Make checks out to CCMTA, not the chairman.

Young Pianist’s Recital: The 17-year old son of Elena Bakina—Aleksei Fedorov—will perform works by Bach, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Liszt and Shostakovich in his free January recital (see above Calendar).. A Woodlands High School senior, he’s currently enrolled at the Shepherd School, where he studies with Keyboard Department Head Dr. Robert Roux.

Our Resident Composer: President Dorothy Kirkpatrick received word that Roger Keele’s nomination has been received for the Commissioned Composer competition for TMTA/MTNA and she urges everyone to encourage him, as he must have a completed composition in just a few months.

Texas Nominees for the 2008 MTNA Fellows: During the TMTA convention in June, Erwin and Frances Key were named as the two Texas nominees for the 2008 MTNA Fellows. It is a means of honoring deserving individuals while at the same time supporting the efforts of the MTNA Foundation Fund through donations of $1,000 or more to the Foundation Fund in the name of each individual to be recognized.
Please consider sending a contribution to the MTNA Headquarters, 441 Vine St., Ste 505, Cincinnati, OH 45202-2811 by February 1, 2008. Contributions may also be sent online at www.mtna.org.

Laurel Ince.
TMTA/MTNA Foundation Chair

A Personal Note: I’m back! Thanks for the many kind wishes while I was out of commission. Although not fully recovered from the stroke, I’m improving all the time with therapists coming five times a week. My speech was not affected, and my mind is still intact. So I feel ready to tackle your newsletter again. I’ve missed it, along with all of you.
