High School Piano Competition

Purpose: To honor deserving High School pianists for outstanding achievement and determination in the development of a total musicianship. It is the donor’s desire that the recipients use the scholarships to assist in their continued education on the college level.

Teacher Eligibility: Teacher must be local, state, and national member through CCMTA.

Student Eligibility: Any CCMTA Student Affiliate pianist, grades 9 -12, who fulfills the requirements listed below:

Requirements:

1. All applicants must pass the TMTA-SA Theory Test for their school grade with a minimum score of 70.
2. Must perform for judges three compositions from three contrasting periods with a 25-minute maximum performance time.
3. Must perform from memory.
4. Must turn in application, and a list of repertoire to be performed by the deadline listed.
5. Winners will perform at least one selection at the CCMTA May Awards Ceremony.

Fee: $20

Application: Use the form from yearbook. Fill out form and return to chairman. Chairman will check theory test score from Theory Chairman.

Awards: The competition is divided into two divisions: Junior Division (Grades 9 and 10) and Senior Division (Grades 11 and 12). Cash Awards and Plaques will be given to First, Second, Third and Fourth Place Winners in each division.

Award checks and plaques are presented to the winners at the May Awards Ceremony by the sponsors.
