TMTA Publication Contest

Purpose: To promote excellence in music research and publications. To give the student the possibility of his or her essay being published in the Texas Music Teacher/Student Affiliate magazine.

Format: Students write essays on a required topic for his/her age group on a music related topic. (See list for topics)

Deadline: In the hands of the chairman by Jan. 15, 2008.

Fees: All Categories- $11.00 per entry.

Entries:

1. 1. All articles should be typed, single spaced, by parent or teacher if needed, for ease of judging. Only easily read print styles should be used; font suggested: Times New Roman. No illustrations or borders will be accepted. Please use 12 point type.
2. The student’s name should not appear on the article. No cover sheet should be used nor should the article be in a folder of any kind.
3. Please send a hard copy of the essay AND the essay saved to disk in “text only” format. Be sure to save the bibliography and discography to the disk as well.
4. The topics are purposefully broad to allow the student journalist freedom of perspective.
5. All articles should include a bibliography and discography citing the sources of information used in the paper.
6. Essay should be within the word requirement. No more or no less than listed.


Application: Use form in the yearbook. Fill out completely, and attach to the article.

Awards: Winning articles in each category will receive a cash award. Winning and outstanding articles will be printed in TMTA publications. Awards will be presented at the TMTA Convention in June. All articles will receive a rating sheet and certificate.
