TMTA-SA Theory Tests

Age: Grades 1 through 12, SA membership required
(Any student who participates in Theory testing prior to enrolling as an SA member will be assessed an additional $15.00 processing fee and $8 late fee, AND the teacher assessed a $50 fine!)

Dates:

Fall Test - Saturday, November 3, 2007 (make-up Sunday, Nov. 4th)
Saturday, February 2, 2008 (make-up Sunday, February 3)


Times:

8:00 a.m. - 12 p.m. Saturday

Testing time for each grade level will vary and will be determined based on enrollment. Teacher will be notified of times at least 2 weeks prior to the test.

The make-up tests start at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday for all grades.


Location: Cypress Creek Christian Community Center

Fees: $8.00 per test. CCMTA will pay for medals.

Or download the Microsoft Excel registration form from the CCMTA website under the FORMS link. Save it to your computer. Fill in your information. Save your completed file. Close Microsoft Excel. Email your saved file as an attachment to CFMusicAndArts@aol.com

Alternative Method – Fill out the entry form in the yearbook and return to theory chairman.

Reminder: In order to enter the TMTA Original Composition Contest or the TMTA Performance Contest through CCMTA, a student must enter and pass the theory test through CCMTA.

In order to be a part of an ensemble at TMTA, a student must pass the Theory Test, but they may take the Theory Test through any local MTA.

To be eligible for ensemble, original composition contest, or performance contest:

a) Students in Grade 1 must pass the first level theory test.

b) Students in Grades 2, 3, and 4 must pass the theory test at their current school grade level or ONE level below.

c) Students in Grades 5—12 must pass the test at a minimum of level 4. Such students must advance at least one level higher each successive year and may skip levels until they reach their current grade level. See TMTA-SA Handbook for detailed rules.


All participating teachers are required to help a minimum of 4 hours at this event (See Rule #3 under Rules Governing Student Affiliate Activities).

Awards: Passing grade, as stated in TMTA-SA Handbook, qualifies student for participation in TMTA State events. Medals for grades of 90 or above (See TMTA-SA) Certificates for passing grades (See TMTA-SA) Multi-level certificates, scholarships and awards points (See TMTA-SA)
